Today to be made well is something that is desired for those that are sick. It is something desired for those that know someone who is terminally ill, and at times by the grace of God, He heals someone in their entirety. I believe this happens because He wants His glory to be revealed in that circumstance for all to see like in John 9 when He said "“Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.
All things that are good are to give the glory to God- Amen
But all to often Gods glory gets taken advantage of, and people only want to come to Christ to be healed, instead of being transformed. Because the reality is that those that put their trust in Him regardless if they are healed while here on earth they will ultimately be restored when they are in the Kingdom with our Lord.
The passage below gives an illustration why some were coming to Christ, it was to be healed and it was happening.
Mark 6:53 When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there. 54 And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, 55 ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was.56 Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.
In the next chapter Jesus got into a discussion about what is really honoring to the Lord, and as the pharisees were accustomed to, they were more concerned with the outside of the cup, more concerned with washing of hands rather than the cleansing of the heart. Jesus would tell them its not what goes into a man that defiles him, but rather what comes out and He would further describe what He meant "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornication's, murders, 22 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”
I say all that to say this---we chase things to satisfy what we want, to satisfy our desires and we paint this beautiful picture of what we think religion is, of who we think Christ is and we miss it in its entirety when we become more concerned with who we are instead of looking at Who Christ is, we become concerned with seeing miracles, going to seminars, reading all the books instead of looking at Christ. "Its not what we know but WHO, is what matters most. That's when we are made well, when we really see Christ and the beauty of His love.
